You can re-name the RC3 folder to anything you like, Bill - the reason the updater/demo installers don't do that anymore is that it can break things like aliases, etc. You may also find that the Updater can't see that install (when you use it to get the next release, or a beta) and you'll have to point it out manually, if you re-name - but apart from that, you can call RC3 "Dirty Harry" (no deliberate reference to shooting Mac keyboards with .357 Magnums intended, obviously) instead, and it won't make a difference.
