Re: Re: whose business is it?

Hi Dawn, I was president of a small company and when I was away there was absolutely no one to do my work, so I understand your plight. That said, I took a look at your comments and here's my reaction (for what's it worth): "She does not do long term planning." What would be the point of that since she's filling in for you? What are the chances it would be a starting point that you would then pick up on? "She is not disciplining the team when needed." Can she be sure that you would see the same need for discipline that she does and that she would mete out the same "punishments" you would? I'd rather she just report the incidents to me and make Doesn't check in with other team members to see if they have problems. I can see this as a problem area. But can you really know whether she observes them and maybe casually says how's it going? How do you know she isn't checking on others? Have you told her what your expectations are of her when you are away? Maybe she doesn't want to step on your toes or look like she is trying to take over. Talk to her calmly before you go away and make sure she knows how long you'll be gone and what you need her to do. And don't forget to do the Work to examine your reactions to her. Hi Dawn, Can you provide a specific example of how your deputy does not manage the team in your absence? What happens/doesn't happen? How long are you gone? How often? Hi Helen, Thanks for your reply She doesn,t check in with other team members to check they are not having problems or need assistance during the day She does not do any long term planning, so training needs are not being met she is not disciplining the team when required, instead going for the "miss popular" approach Taking a longer than permitted lunch break, but in her defense she often starts early and works late I am gone for varying amounts of time, few hrs to a few days, most weeks Dawn No virus found in this incoming message.
