Hello! Thank you for your interest in the Mattoon IL Freecycle(TM) network. Before approving your membership, we ask for THREE things: (1) Please shop and let us know the ZIP codes where you work and live. (2) Please tell us where you heard about the Mattoon IL Freecycle network. We like to acknowledge those who are publicizing our group. (3) Please thoroughly read the guidelines, which will help you keep in mind the important goals of Freecycle. By signing up for the Mattoon Freecycle site you agree to follow the rules. The primary purpose of the Freecycle network is to keep good, useful items off the curbs and out of the landfills. Freecycle is not a charity site or a wish list. Freecycle provides individuals and non-profit agencies in our community an electronic forum to recycle unwanted items. Everything must be FREE, legal and appropriate for all ages. If you've signed up just to ask for things, this isn't the site for you. Please join the site only if you live or work in area. There are many Freecycle sites in Central Illinois. Go to to see if there are other sites closer to home that would be more appropriate. You will receive a welcome letter with further guidelines as well as information on safety and the legal stuff. If you have any questions, please let us know. We're happy you found us! We hope you find your experience on the Freecycle Network positive and rewarding.
