Thank goodness spring has returned. Spring adds so much color and life to events during this season, I'd have hated for it to disappear before we could enjoy it fully. Have an Entertaining week! IN THE SPOTLIGHT Springtime Party Favors It's always nice to send guests home with a little remembrance from your party. For little kids these favors take the form of candy and small toys. For adults, traditional party favors might take a more formal turn at events such as weddings and showers. But what about casual dinner or birthday parties? There are lots of fun, casual favors you can choose in the springtime that will send your guests home with a memory and a smile. What Hostess Gift Would You Bring? A reader in our Forum posted this question, and I thought I'd share it to get suggestions, as well as to bring attention to this wonderful party. It sounds fabulous and I'm just a teeny bit jealous! Zoogirl writes: "I have been invited by a friend, who plants and grows 3000 tulip bulbs every year, to attend a "Tulip Tea." About 10 friends will be attending. I need suggestions for a hostess gift. I have never been to her home. Obviously, a plant is not an option, nor is a book on tulip growing techniques or tools as she has been planting tulips for many years and must have all the garden stuff she needs. Any suggestions?" Everyone had fun, and the games and the projects turned out great. Even the healthy selection of food was appreciated by the kids who had worked up a pretty good appetite running around during game time. The treats we can serve to the kids is limited by strict school district rules relating to sugar in the ingredients. But if we had been able to serve a more sugary treat to the kids, one of these garden critter cakes would have fit the theme perfectly.
