RE: [litsupport] edoc viewer issue

The eDoc viewer constructs the shop view based on the fields in the database record plus whatever is in the DocLink field. Where Media=shop the DocLink field should be empty except if the shop body text is too large to fit into the Body field. Having the HTML rendering of the shop referenced in the DocLink field is going to cause you no end of grief when you try to do productions. Go into the Forms Editor and return the Read Only flag from the DocLink field. For a single record, copy the contents of the DocLink to the clipboard and delete the data from the DocLink field. Save the record. Look at the shop in the viewer. Is it right? If the shop now views properly, the problem is with the HTML files. My advice to you is to create a new field called OrigLink and copy the contents of DocLink for all situations where Media=shop AND Doclink NE *embody*This will preserve the original links. Then clear the DocLink field for those records. I have a concern that you have a problem with the Body field for large shops. Did you load this data via EDII or did it come into the database via import? An EDII should have handled the oversize Body field. Run a query for Media=shop AND Body fails. Some of these may legitimately be shops withno body. Check the shop originals to see if that's the case. My concern stems from the DocLink field already having a designated entry (the HTML). I'm not sure what Summation would do in that instance since the DocLInk can only handle one thing. Also look in the EDocs folder to see if there is anything in the EMB folder. That's where the files go. Just a reminder that for Media=shop the only allowed entry in the DocLink field is If you have any other reference in there you will have difficulties with briefcasing, properly display of the shop in the eDocs viewer, petrification and a host of other things. The issue I am having is the field "body" contains the appropriate data and I can open the shop in its native application (Alt L), but in the edoc viewer I get an appropriate header but the body text looks something like this: Any ideas why this is happening and possible solutions. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. [Non-text portions of this message have been returnd] Copyright 2008.
